Old Tampa City Hall

Old Tampa City Hall

This is the old Tampa City Hall, built in 1915.  Tampapix has some great history and vintage photos of this building (and, to my great envy, some interior shots).  Read about Hortense the Beautiful (the building’s clock tower), and the Seminole Indian woman who was the inspiration for the ornamental heads seen in the bottom photo.

There was originally a 3-story annex on the south side of the building.  Due to structural issues the annex was demolished in the 1960s to give us a lovely parking lot.  The city is renovating the clock tower this summer.
