Florida Brewing Company
This is the Florida Brewing Company building, six stories tall. When first built, it was the tallest building Tampa, and it remains the tallest building in Ybor City. There are a couple of nice background articles on this building at Wikipedia and at Beer Can Dave’s web site.
This building is too large to photograph up close (as demonstrated below at 18mm) but other buildings obscure it when photographed from a distance (as seen in the top and bottom photos).
The door below shows the imprint for “La Tropical,” one variety of beer produced here. The building is now used for office space for other companies.
The Florida Brewing Company went out of business in 1961. But I’m glad they left this beautiful building behind.

Great article, nice links, great pictures. Enjoyed both the Wikipedia and the Beer Can Dave links! Well done sir. At first I thought it was the building that was the Ybor Brewery but soon realized I was wrong.

Thanks, Mike, I appreciate the kind words. Sometimes I can’t find much information on the sites I photograph, but when I can I like to provide the background.
