Elvis Ate Here
Oh, Elvis. We still miss you. Ms. Finding Tampa and I were able to eat a late breakfast at Nicko’s Fine Foods recently, a classic diner on Florida Avenue in the Seminole Heights area. Elvis Presley ate at Nicko’s after performing in Tampa in 1956. We sadly did not get to sit in the Elvis booth (marked with a plaque), but it still seemed an appropriate topic today, on what would have been the King’s 77th birthday.
The restaurant, if you’re curious, had delicious food, friendly service, and good prices. It received Tampa Bay Breakfasts’ Breakfast of the Year award for 2011.
And if you want to hear Elvis in better days, I recommend the Elvis On Stage Legacy Edition, a 2-disc set from Elvis’ 1969-1970 concerts when his voice was still powerful and he was backed by a stellar group of musicians.

That’s so weird that you posted this because my husband and I watched Parent Trap II this weekend (which took place in Tampa). At one point, they were in Nicko’s – and we each said, “I wonder if that’s still around.” So I guess it is!
