Tampa Walk to End Alzheimer’s

5.4 million people in the United States have Alzeimer’s disease, and 16 million are expected to have it by 2050.  In Florida alone, over 450,000 people over the age of 65 suffer from this curse.  This past Saturday, the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association held a Walk to End Alzheimer’s in downtown Tampa.  The event started and ended in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.  Still think universal healthcare won’t give us a return on our investment?  Restoring to our economy the lost productivity of $200+ billion worth of time that friends and relatives devote to unpaid care for their loved ones with Alzheimer’s would be a good start.
